Sponsored vs. Independent Centers: What's the Difference?
Sponsored Centers
A Sponsored center participates on the CACFP contract of their Sponsor. Effectively, sponsored centers are subcontractors, working under the Sponsor.
- Sponsors are in control of the program & the reimbursements.
- Centers must conform to the Sponsor's program processes & deadlines.
- Payment delays often occur due to the high volume of monthly claims the Sponsor processes.
- Sponsors conduct on-site monitoring visits three times annually.
Independent Centers
Independent centers establish their own contract directly with TDA.
- You are in control of your program & your reimbursements.
- You customize your processes & determine your own deadlines.
- Your claim is processed individually and ready for submission directly after the end of the month.
- TDA will visit your center once for a pre-approval and then again within the first 12 months. After that, it's every 3 years.
